The tour starts at 08:00 am when we’ll pick you up from your hotel.
We depart for Brashlyan village which is just 1-hour drive from Burgas. This village is known as the village with the most preserved old (17-19 century) houses in Bulgaria. It has a cultural reserve status and there we can see the old cell school, the 150 years old Ethnographic museum, the Museum of traditional agriculture, as well as the St. Dimitar church which is one of the oldest in Strandzha – it was built in the 17th century.
Next, we leave for Malko Tarnovo, but before that, we’ll stop by a Thracian necropolis which consists of 40 mounds – different in their architecture style and time of building tombs situated on a hill which is covered by hornbeam forest. A very mysterious and interesting place.
We move on to Malko Tarnovo which is the most populated area in Strandzha mountain. There we can visit the History Museum where we can see a working carpet workshop and participate in a carpet making demonstration.
For lunch, we’ll try the culinary richness of the region presented by some of its unique local recipes.
Later on, depending on your wishes and the physical condition of our group, we can visit the Mouse field sanctuary – a big estate which is situated about 3.5 km away from Malko Tarnovo on the left bank of the Delyiska river and close to the Bulgarian-Turkey border. This sanctuary consists of a fortress at the top of a big ancient town’s ruins. It’s been known since the beginning of the 20th century and was called “Apollon’s sanctuary” because of the writings brought to the city from the ruins.
Around 4:00 pm we depart for Burgas which is 1.5 hours driving time from us.
